"I'm much MORE productive because of the soul restoration and support I receive from this space, from the other writers and particularly the consultants." ~Summer Stay Scholar

The experiences of Faculty of Color include isolation, poorly matched or lack of mentor support, invalidation of productivity and scholarly accomplishments, racialized or minoritized workplace stressors, DEI overburdening and more.

One of the most active areas of support and resources provided by the Diversity Research Network centers around writing retreats and spaces. These programs provide that much needed ‘soul restoration and support’ for writing and include:

Writing Spaces - These year-long writing spaces are where faculty can meet others to write in community for 3 hours each week. There is time for writing and for fellowship as well as sharing of critical knowledge.

Accountability Program - The accountability program brings together in a more formal space, peer support for writing and other types of scholarship and artistry. Here scholars can ask to be matched with an accountability partner or bring a known partner.

Summer Stay Writing Retreat. - The retreat is a 3-day experience that brings together scholars from across campus to write in community, access to consultation opportunities with national scholars and participate in self-care practices and reflection roundtables.
